I have loved art since I can remember (I mean like since four years old), but did not take it seriously until I received a simple tray of watercolors for my 40th birthday. I dabbled and doodled and tried different techniques; and then suddenly, it all came together and I was an artist. After a time in watercolors, I moved to oils. I fell in love with oils, because of the three-dimensional aspect. For example, in the painting of RJ (the labradoodle standing by the duck pond), I was able to "lift" the paint off his coat to further emphasize the wet. I do commissioned portraits of people and pets at a rate of $5 per square inch, and accept all major credit cards. Click on Maggie - third dog portrait - for an example of how I work.   joelcgraves @
